Start an Illustrated children's book
Start a new story and choose Illustrated children's book. Think in spreads, a page or two of simple, rhythmic text each, and outline the story beats a young reader will follow.

Say each page out loud the way you'd read it to a child. Keep the assist light so the language stays plain and musical, short lines, a little repetition, a lot of heart.
Illustrate each page
