Writing with AI
Find the characters in your story
3 min read
When you write by talking, you rarely stop to log every character you invent. MakeVox does that part for you. It reads your prose, finds the named people who keep showing up, and adds them to your Characters list so your cast is already there when you go looking.
Your cast just appears
The first time you open Characters on a project that has prose but no characters yet, MakeVox scans the story and fills the list. Each character it finds comes with a short profile it wrote from what you have already written, so you are not starting from a blank page.

Scan again as you write
New people arrive as the story grows. Hit Scan story to run the pass again and catch anyone who has walked on since. It matches by name, so it will not add the same character twice, and it never touches a profile you have already edited. Your changes stay yours.
Tip. This is for prose projects like novels and memoir. Screenplays build their cast from the dialogue cues in the script instead, so there is nothing to scan there.

Build your character bible
Your character bible is the AI's memory of who your people are. Write it or dictate it, and together with your prose it unlocks the Direct setting.
Getting started: speak your first chapter
Open MakeVox, hit record, and talk. Your AI editor shapes the rough dictation into clean prose, and your outline grows as you go.
Write a novel by voice
Talk your novel into being, speak scenes as they come to you, let MakeVox shape them into prose, and keep the whole book in your own voice.
