Write a novel by voice
4 min read
A novel is a long walk, and most of us think out loud better than we type. With a Novel project you speak your scenes and MakeVox shapes what you say into clean prose, so the story keeps moving even when your hands are busy.
Start a Novel project
Create a project and choose Novel. You'll land in a workspace built for long-form fiction: an outline of chapters down the side, and a page in the middle you fill by talking.

Speak your scenes
Open a chapter and start talking, describe what happens, what people say, how it feels. MakeVox turns the dictation into prose that reads like a book, not a transcript, while keeping your phrasing and rhythm.
Keep the shape and the cast in view
Build or generate an outline so you always know where you are in the arc, and keep a cast of characters the editor knows about. As your novel grows, MakeVox can even find the named characters in your prose and add them for you.
Tip. Stuck on a chapter? Talk it through with the editor instead of writing it, say what you want the scene to do, and shape it in conversation.

Getting started: speak your first chapter
Open MakeVox, hit record, and talk. Your AI editor shapes the rough dictation into clean prose, and your outline grows as you go.
Build your character bible
Your character bible is the AI's memory of who your people are. Write it or dictate it, and together with your prose it unlocks the Direct setting.
Your AI assistance dial: Shape, Co-write, Direct
One dial sets how much the AI does, from polishing your own words to drafting from a brief. Shape is the default, and you can change it per story.
