Table Read: hear your scene performed
3 min read
A line can look fine on the page and fall apart the moment someone says it out loud. Table Read performs your scene with a different voice for each character, the way a cast would read it around a table. When the parts talk to each other, dialogue that no real person would actually say jumps right out.
Assign a voice to each character
Pick a voice for each character in the scene, then hit play. The read alternates between them, so a conversation sounds like a conversation. Suddenly you can hear when two characters sound identical, or when someone says something that does not fit who they are.
Free and premium voices
You can run a table read with the built-in voices at no cost. Connect an ElevenLabs key and you get premium voices to cast from, which makes each character feel like a distinct person and makes the flat lines even easier to spot.

Tip. Fill out each character in your Character Bible first. The more distinct they are on the page, the more the table read exposes lines that drift off-character.
